Date 29th May 2009: Trojantec Ltd. announced today that a study was published in the Proceedings of the Annual Meeting of ASCO held at Orlando, Florida, May 29th - June 2nd, 2009 The published study reported on TR4 ,a Notch inhibitor. This is a therapeutic protein blocking the Notch pathway which is a critical pathway for some Cancer Stem Cells. TR4 was effective , leading to Cancer Stem Cell death in tumors that had increased Notch activity. It was found that TR4 could inhibit human breast and colon tumors grown in immuno-deficient mice. Furthermore,TR4 was found to be non- immunogenic and non- toxic to normal tissues at levels which were effective against cancer..TR4 presence and activity were also detected in the brains of the treated animals demonstrating that TR4 can cross the blood- brain barrier and potentially eliminate brain tumors and metastases, unlike other anticancer drugs and biologicals such as monoclonal antibodies that cannot cross the blood brain barrier. Trojantec Ltd. is a UK and Cyprus based Biopharmaceutical Company focused on creating and developing innovative oncology therapeutics. Trojantec is one of a few companies in the world developing drugs that not only attack Cancer Cells, but more importantly destroy Cancer Stem Cells. Through research and development in this novel and exciting field, we wish to achieve the next order of magnitude of efficacy against cancer. |
